Muskingum University invites applications for a Building Technician I. This position will perform basic maintenance and repair of campus systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other equipment. The primary focus is minimizing downtime and ensuring the efficient operation of systems.

The anticipated starting wage for this position is $20.20, but may be negotiated based on experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routine maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment and components.
- Check daily for proper operation of equipment.
- Suggest and implement minor changes to improve equipment efficiency.
- Assist with repairs to minimize downtime and maintain smooth daily operations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program.
- Cross-train in other trades and assist with general maintenance tasks, including plumbing and electrical systems.
- Comply with service standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Keep up to date on work order requests, maintain logs and records, and ensure proper closure of work order requests.
- Maintain purchasing receipts and proper documentation for work order completion.
- Ability to climb ladders, enter tight spaces, work in tunnels and other mechanical spaces.
- Must be able to respond 24/7 for trouble call backs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate strength.
- Familiarity with using tools and machines for repair and maintenance.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and plans
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in tight, enclosed spaces.
- Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and be insurable through the University's carrier.
- Ability to cross-train to learn to repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, and restaurant equipment.
