Muskingum University invites applications for the Orbit Media Director. This position serves as onsite engineer, ensuring fully functional and operating facilities, which are used primarily for course instruction, and represents Orbit Media in cross-campus engagement with students, faculty, and staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- In collaboration with students, faculty, and staff:
- Create a brand and mission for Orbit Media that includes all its outlets.
- Contribute to and support the Orbit Media platform and submission portal to best meet student needs and interests.
- Serve the academic programs by instructing for-credit practica, providing internship oversight.
- Develop high-impact opportunities that reflect current trends and needs of students.
- Help to expand Orbit Media offerings and maximize student engagement in extracurricular (e.g., associated with athletics and student activities) high-impact experiences.
Operations
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student staff supporting Orbit Media.
- Manage Orbit Media and adjacent program equipment by proactively ensuring that all equipment is operational and prepared for use and lending.
- Manage the installation and maintenance of new or upgraded studio production equipment, audio systems, specialized imaging and computer-based hardware, and teleconferencing equipment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Efficiently manages tasks, resources, and time to optimize productivity and meet deadlines.
- Excellent technology skills, including demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, office management programs, databases, internet, and social media sites.
- Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in all work, minimizing errors and oversights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work closely with all constituencies of the University, in addition to the public.
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Experience leading the work of others is preferred.
