Muskingum University invites application for a Payroll Coordinator. This position is responsible for the University’s payroll function.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calculate, prepare, and distribute all payrolls paid by the University.
- Complete payroll tax reports and other reports as needed.
- Complete W2s on an annual basis and assist with the preparation of other forms such as 1094/1095, 5500, 990, and others.
- Reconcile Federal Work Study payments to student awards, calculating amounts available to draw College Work Study award and amounts remaining.
- In coordination with Accounting, balance the General Ledger and payroll.
- Maintain information in a manner that is compatible with internal and external department needs.
- Maintain accuracy of benefit enrollment contributions in compliance with legal responsibilities.
- Do the accounting, arrange payment, and work with Human Resources to track enrollment for benefit invoicing.
- Maintain current knowledge about payroll laws and trends and update the Business Office and Human Resource teams of any changes.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting required; bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 products, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
