What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Safety Coordinator position at Musselman & Hall Contractors?
The Project Safety Coordinator is responsible for handling the day-to-day safety needs of our job sites.
Essential Functions
- Perform site visits and inspections
- Make recommendations to field crews to ensure work is performed safely
- Audit for compliance with existing safety programs and regulatory agencies (OSHA, DOT, etc.)
- Respond to incidents and assist with the management of open claims
- Conduct root cause investigations for incidents
- Attend site and customer safety meetings
- Provide guidance and necessary safety information to operations teams
- Identify the need for, source, and distribute PPE and safety materials
- Prepare, deliver, and document safety training
- Coordinate open workers’ compensation claims and return to work program
- Help manage building and site security needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, according to Musselman and Hall policies and values
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, ability to meet deadlines, and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, as well as proficiency with (or the ability to quickly learn) the organization’s ERP system and various web platforms
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in workplace safety or a related field preferred
- Experience in Construction safety required

- Ability to speak and hear
- Ability to regularly attend work in an office environment, and occasionally navigate an active job site
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, walking, and climbing in various weather conditions
Other Requirements
- Full-time hours required; most work will be performed on weekdays during normal business hours
- Frequent local travel to job sites within the greater St. Louis area is required
- An average of 1-2 overnight trips per month is required
