Role Summary:
Mutual of America’s Summer Internship Program provides college students with hands-on corporate experience working with meaningful projects and assignments. Throughout the 6-week program, interns will not only have direct guidance from experienced leaders in their assigned departments but can have the opportunity to attend training classes and planned events with other interns.
Within the Finance division there are three teams one could join:
1. Tax Compliance
- Review delinquent tax notices and assist in identifying correct tax team to address notices
- Help file (as needed) tax filings
- Assist with organization of tax files (on network computer and hardcopy)
- Create excel trackers for each tax area (withholding, state licensing, monthly & quarterly filings, etc.)
2. Financial Systems
- Assist the project manager in creating user stories for business and functional requirements documents, including workflows, business rules, use cases, activity diagrams, and workflow diagrams.
- Support the development of comprehensive test plans and create detailed test cases to ensure thorough testing of functionalities.
3. Accounting / Financial Reporting
- Prepare journal entries
- Prepare reconciliations for financial statement accounts
- Prepare monthly financial statement analysis
- Assist in monthly close process
- Assist in preparation of quarterly financial statements (Quarterly Statement)
Required Qualifications:
- A rising Sophomore (graduating year 2028) or a rising Junior (graduating year 2027
- Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.4
- Work 4 days onsite (M-Th)
