Role Summary: The Vice President, Financial Reporting is responsible for the design and effective implementation of the internal and external financial reporting, technical accounting, and financial reporting controls for the Consolidated group of Companies, including rating agencies. They are also responsible for coordinating with external auditors and interactions with rating agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an effective financial reporting framework over the entire financial reporting process (Internal to management, external to regulators and audited financial statements) for all entities
- Develop and execute an effective accounting and analytical process over the financial reporting process
- Design, implement and manage a financial closing process to timely, accurately, and efficiently complete reporting requirements
- Design and implement effective consolidation procedures for each close
- Provide technical accounting oversight over all operations impacting financial reporting
- Develop clearly defined and communicated technical documentation around all financial reports and management reporting
- Develop technical accounting expertise on your team to support this effort
- Develop and implement a credit rating agency reporting and analysis framework to effectively manage all rating agency requests and to assess and prepare for changes in rating agencies approach and methodology
- Coordinate preparation of periodic rating agency analysis
- Lead external audit process and support Controller and CFO in overall external audit relationships. Support other projects and analysis and required
Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Extensive experience (8 years) in investment / insurance, audit, public accounting, or financial reporting management responsibility
- Extensive knowledge of life and annuity insurance industry, products, and business processes
- Extensive knowledge of SEC, SAAP and GAAP accounting standards and their application in the insurance industry
- Working knowledge of MS business tools (Access/Excel/Word/ PowerPoint/ Visio/SharePoint)
- Expert analytical and problem-solving skills
- Extensive oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA

The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.
Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $210,000
