Museum Exhibition Assistant Internship
Hourly Pay: $18 - $20
Weekly Hours: 28 – 36
Shifts: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Days: Monday - Friday, with weekend/evening availability
Internship Duration: 12 Months
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
This internship is in partnership with the City of Anaheim. Candidates must meet ALL THREE specific criteria to qualify: Reside in Anaheim, Currently unemployed, Currently between 16 - 30
About Us: Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center is dedicated to celebrating the cultural diversity and heritage of our community through engaging exhibitions and public programs. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Exhibition Assistant to join our team, contributing to both exhibition production and public art grant oversight.
Job Overview: As an Exhibition Assistant at Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center, you will play a key role in two major areas: Exhibition Production and Planning, and Public Art Grant Oversight. This position requires a dynamic individual with gallery or museum experience, a background in working with artists, and a comprehensive understanding of museum operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Exhibition Production and Planning:
● Assist in the planning and production of exhibitions.
● Conduct research and writing for exhibit content.
● Participate in the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions.
● Manage relationships with artists and lenders.
● Acquire and oversee exhibition supplies.
Public Art Grant Oversight:
● Assist in the call for artists for public art projects.
● Communicate with artists and manage artist contracts.
● Assist with the installation of public art.
● Support marketing efforts, including social media campaigns.
● Plan and oversee public programming to accompany public art projects.
● Be present on-site as needed for public art installations and events.
Qualifications:
● Experience working in a gallery or museum setting.
● Proven experience in working with artists.
● Knowledge of museum operations and exhibition planning.
● Strong organizational and communication skills.
● Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Proficiency in social media and marketing strategies.
● Must have a car and a valid driver’s license for commuting to public art sites.
Preferred Skills:
● Excellent research and writing abilities.
● Familiarity with art handling and installation techniques.
● Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
