Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join its Charlotte, NC office. The Business Development Manager is responsible for executing business development initiatives across the firm, including cross-selling efforts. The role requires advanced knowledge of the legal sales process, business development coaching techniques, and strategic planning, as well as an ability to collaborate with internal and external clients. The Business Development Manager will ensure the firm’s business development efforts align with firm and practice area business goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer (CMBDO) and key partners, identify and support the pursuit of opportunities to win new clients or expand existing relationships in key practice areas, industries, and markets. Track new business pipeline and proactively follow up with lawyers on next steps.
- Prepare lawyers for new business meetings, including compiling research and discussing attendees, roles, agenda, and next steps.
- Provide one-on-one coaching to lawyers to help them identify and leverage new business opportunities.
- Guide lawyers in the development of individual business development plans.
- Collaborate with Marketing colleagues to align marketing activities with business development priorities.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for lawyers on business development tools and techniques, including elevator speeches, value propositions, and strategies for advancing clients through the sales process.
- Collaborate with lawyers and internal colleagues to develop and refine pitch materials.
- Lead the development of responses to RFPs (Requests for Proposals), RFIs (Requests for Information), and similar client requests across the firm.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 7-9 years’ experience in business development within a professional services environment
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM software.
- Regular in-person attendance is required to perform essential functions of this interactive position.
- Occasional travel may be required for events or meetings.

- It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
