ABOUT THE ROLE
The Managing Director, Commercial Deposits will be responsible for shaping and executing the Bank’s commercial deposit strategy, driving fee income growth, and leading multiple specialized teams. This leader will serve as a key figure in the Bank’s public profile and will collaborate closely with internal partners—such as Commercial Lending, Product Management, Marketing, and Operations—to expand our commercial deposit base, enhance client relationships, and boost overall profitability.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for commercial deposits, focusing on market expansion, targeted verticals, and revenue growth.
- Set and oversee achievement of annual goals for deposit balances, fee income, and profitability, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s broader objectives.
- Serve as a thought leader for new product offerings, pricing strategies, and business models that enhance client value and improve the Bank’s competitive position.
- Team Management & Development
- Lead a diverse group of specialized teams, including:
- Treasury Management Sales: Self source and partner with commercial lending to drive deposit growth and fee income through treasury solutions.
- Title Company Sales & Service: Oversee client acquisition, retention, and relationship management for the title industry.
- National Accounts: Expand our specialty deposit business and identify additional industries to pursue, both within and outside our current footprint.
- Client Support: On-board, service, and retain high value deposit relationships.
- Mentor and develop team leaders, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture that is client-centric and results-driven.
- Recruit, retain, and reward top talent, ensuring each function is equipped to meet growth targets and deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Lead a diverse group of specialized teams, including:
- Relationship Building & Public Profile
- Act as a public ambassador for the Bank by attending industry events, networking with centers of influence, and representing the organization’s values and objectives.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key commercial clients and industry partners to promote trust and loyalty.
- Collaborate with Marketing to showcase the Bank’s expertise in commercial deposits and treasury management.
- Revenue & Profitability Growth
- Define and monitor KPIs for deposit balances, fee income, and client acquisition/retention, implementing actions where needed.
- Partner with Product Management and Operations to refine deposit products and treasury services, ensuring profitability, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify opportunities to introduce new fee-based services or enhance existing ones, capturing greater share of wallet from commercial clients.
- Operational & Risk Oversight
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to ensure that commercial deposit activities meet regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Oversee process improvements that drive efficiency, reduce risk, and streamline onboarding and servicing for commercial clients.
- Champion data-driven decision-making, working closely with Data Analytics teams to track performance and inform future initiatives.
- Collaboration & Alignment
- Maintain close partnerships with leadership to ensure a cohesive approach to client growth and service.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on strategic goals, team performance, market insights, and emerging opportunities.
- Engage cross-functional teams to align deposit and treasury offerings with broader Bank initiatives, ensuring a seamless experience for clients across all channels.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field (MBA or advanced degree -preferred).
- 10 years of leadership experience in commercial banking, treasury management, or deposit-focused roles.
- Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth, overseeing multiple teams, and cultivating meaningful industry relationships.
- Strategic mindset with a proven ability to set long-range goals and execute against them.
- Strong communicator who can influence internal stakeholders and service as a confident external ambassador.
- Deep understanding of treasury management products and deposit operations, including regulatory compliance.
- Ability to motivate and coach teams, creating a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and client-centric thinking.
