The Club Director will have direct supervision responsibilities of select in-building leadership positions and share supervision responsibilities with regional department managers in other areas. The overall function is to drive consistency and uphold quality assurance and delivery of excellence throughout the building operation with a primary focus of retaining members through engagement, delivery of high-level experience, and creating community that’s hard to cancel and walk away from. This position is a part of the Executive Leadership team and reports to the VP of Operations.
Responsibilities
- Highest position of authority within the building.
- Oversees full building operation and manages department managers.
- Direct management of Member Services Manager, Kids Stuff Manager, Aquatics Manager and Work-Space Supervisor, where applicable.
- Shared management Tennis Manager, Personal Training Manager, Group Exercise Manager, Sales Manager in conjunction with designated regional department heads, where applicable.
- Manages building operational staff coverage and fills in as active member of front-line coverage as needed to keep building functioning at a high level.
- Driver of excellence in all things related to member experience with special attention given to: club cleanliness and friendliness, customer service, consistency of delivery.
- Be an inspirational leader and figurehead who openly connects with team members and members.
- Cultivates a culture of teamwork, accountability, excellence, and member engagement.
- Sets clear expectations for teams to follow and holds them accountable for delivery of those expectations.
- Ensures quality control related to member experience and works hand in hand with corporate services department leaders to ensure the highest-level delivery in each respective area.
- Work collaboratively to support regional department heads to ensure high performance and consistent delivery within each department.
- Meet all company brand standard expectations.
- Strategize the most efficient and controlled way to intake insurance sponsored members, and act as part of this activation team, as necessary.
- Focus on driving insurance sponsored members to use club and maximize 3rd party reimbursement potential through engagement and invitation.
- Manage all controllable building operational expenses to stay in line with budgets including but not limited to building supplies, hourly labor, and bad debt.
- Collaborate with and bring ideas to corporate services team to keep driving overall business to new heights.
- Run weekly manager meetings with intent of building up & supporting department managers and providing a space to share and stay aligned.
- Responsible for overall building safety and risk management.
- Represents MVP Sports Clubs within community.
- Lead and participate in regular Service Game training sessions.
- Perform all appropriate staff appraisals and merit programs in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain a neat professional personal appearance by wearing the MVP Sports Clubs uniform (see uniform matrix) and name badge.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Requirements
- B.A or B.S. degree preferably in fitness management, business, marketing or communications.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of previous management experience.
- Customer Service skills required.
- Knowledge of the services, management and promotion of multi-purpose sports facilities, equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and equipment of a multi-purpose facility.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Possess strong leadership skills and be competent in staff training.
- Able to maintain accurate and complete records.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, administrators and subordinates.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation and analytical skills.
- Proficient computer skills (word processing, spread sheets & graphics programs).
- Physical Requirements: Bend, stoop, crouch, climb, stand, sit and turn/pivot, lift/lower, push, pull and carry up to 40 lbs. Perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, typing, and/or word processing, filing, calculating and use of telephone. See, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
