Role Description
This is a contract role for an EHR/HL7 Database Migration Systems Analyst. The position is located on-site in Austin, TX. The Systems Analyst will be responsible for analyzing system requirements, managing and migrating databases, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data integrity during the migration process. The analyst will also conduct detailed analysis and provide recommendations to optimize database performance and compliance with relevant regulations.
1. Lead the migration efforts of current legacy system to new modernized cloud-based SaaS solutions. This includes comprehensive planning, data assessment, extraction, cleansing, and mapping to ensure compatibility with the new system. The worker will primarily work on developing scripts to extract data out of legacy systems such as Oracle Cerner’s Millennium database on in HL7 format (60%).
2. Perform necessary testing of the migration process, including creating and executing Unit test scripts, managing test scenarios, analyzing test results, and debugging issues. Utilize established software development and testing standards to ensure the reliability and functionality of the new SaaS solution. (20%)
3. Provide regular updates on the migration progress to all project stakeholders including immediate managers, technical leads, developers, and business analysts. Use ticketing systems for information sharing and problem resolution. Prepare and deliver presentations and updates to both internal and external audiences to explain the migration process, system functionality, and technical challenges (10%)
4. Facilitate the smooth transition to the new system by providing strategic oversight and support post-migration. This includes training end-users, preparing comprehensive system documentation, and recommending strategies for optimizing system performance based on feedback and performance metrics. (5%)
5. Ensures that design complies with HHSC standards. This task also involves setting up validation and auditing processes to maintain data integrity post-migration. (5%)
CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Database management systems, workflows, and data migration, with a strong emphasis on healthcare EHR systems in developing scripting, extracting data in hL7 format and mapping to target systems.
- Required Experience in Oracle Cerner Millennium database, Cerner Command Language (CCL) data extraction scripting, crucial for the efficient migration of data to new SaaS platforms.
- Required Business analysis, including reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating user requirements, operational procedures, and identifying solutions to automate processes or enhance system functionality.
- Required Experience in EHR application domain, understanding current system and creating workflow analysis, developing workflows, designing, programming, and providing support using software engineering practices.
- Required Experience in documenting process flows and standardizes existing and future process flow improvements by conducting data collection and meetings with the subject matter experts to gain full understanding of system usability and documenting the workflows.
