JOB SUMMARY
The Business Unit Controller role at MW Components is a key finance role within the company. This position is viewed as a management position within the business unit (“BU”) and an important member of the Site Leadership Team acting as the Finance Business Partner for the General Manager (“GM”). This position will also be covering 2-3 other sites within the BU.
REPORTING TO
The BU Controller will report directly to the VP of Finance. In addition, the BU Controller will have a dotted line into the General Manager for the Business Units that they wholly support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform timely monthly closing of financials for BU in accordance with GAAP and MW Components policy.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supplemental reports required by MW Components.
- Prepare monthly analysis of financial results including variance / bridging analysis in coordination with the BU General Manager.
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations as well as perform a peer review on another BU’s reconciliations.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining proper inventory reporting and control at the BU (labor and burden rates, excess and obsolete inventory, inventory costing, etc.)
- Coordination and oversight of physical inventories / cycle counting to ensure compliance for the audit.
- Oversee working capital levels (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable) within the BU to ensure that working capital levels meet expectations.
- Coordinate evaluation of capital projects and approval process.
- Validate and approve / sign-off on product costs to support PMO / customer bids.
- Assist FP&A on operational analysis, trend projections and forecasting (quarterly) as well as the annual operating budget.
- Lead and / or participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs.
- Provide financial support on as needed basis for GM and other BU employees.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses and projects.
- Ensure compliance of policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- May lead, mentor and set annual goals for direct reports in the future.
