What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner Scheduler position at MW Components?
JOB SUMMARY
The Production Planner/Scheduler plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors the flow of products through the complete production cycle; provides timely planning and scheduling of manufacturing work orders to the manufacturing floor to achieve both internal financial goals and customer delivery dates; and is responsible for prioritizing work orders when needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacturing.
- Draws up master schedules to establish timelines to each operation to meeting shipping dates according to the customer orders and forecasts
- Data analysis and decision making to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
- Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data and perform calculations to determine manufacturing process, tools, and employee needs
- Plans production schedules to release orders into the manufacturing process according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Complete status reports for production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory.
- Provide information as requested from Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Accounting.
- Confers with department manager to process lead time to Customer Services
- Prepares production reports
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Familiar with Visual ERP, Infor Visual, Insite systems or any other ERP/MRP
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service focus and flexibility for handling a wide range of activities
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher learning institution with studies in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field preferred
- 5 years’ experience in manufacturing/production planning capacity
- MRP system experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Warehouse environment where temperature ranges based on seasonal weather
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, pull, and push with hands and arms, reach overhead, and talk or hear
- Regularly required to stand and walk
- Occasionally required to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, climb or balance
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh up to 25 lbs.
- Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
