MW Components in Logansport, IN is looking for a Shipping Manager to join our team!
Job Summary:
The Shipping Manager will oversee the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department, ensuring that all incoming materials and outgoing products are handled efficiently and in accordance with company policies and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of inventory management and logistics.
Job Duties:
- Manage and supervise the shipping and receiving team to ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments.
- Coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished products.
- Collaborate with production and inventory teams to ensure timely fulfillment of orders.
- Implement continuous improvements in shipping/receiving processes, including warehouse layout and material handling methods.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and legal regulations related to shipping and receiving.
- Ensure that inventory levels are properly tracked and maintained, minimizing stockouts and overstock situations.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to manage incoming shipments, resolving any issues with quality or delivery timelines.
- Monitor shipping costs and work to optimize processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory levels, and product movements.
- Responsible for training employees in proper forklift skills, company procedures, and all shipping functions.
- Perform regular audits of inventory and shipping/receiving activities to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with creating and sustaining 5S standards throughout warehouse and packaging areas.
- Assist the safety committee in development and implementing safety awareness programs, communicates safety issues, corrects safety-related problems and assists in investigations into safety-related issues as needed and directed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or a related field preferred and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in a shipping and receiving or logistics management role, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and critical thinking skills, and the ability to drive process improvement techniques throughout the shipping process in a skillful and deliberate manner.
- Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide proper training on continuous integration methods and initiatives.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, shipping software and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations related to shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
