MW Partners is currently seeking a Accounting Manager to work for our client who is a global leader in the media and entertainment industry.
Responsibilities and duties:
- The Director of Accounting is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's accounting functions related to Electronic Sell Through (EST) and Video On Demand (VOD) agreements and its financial reporting.
- This role involves preparing financial statements and business activity reports in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory mandates.
- The role interacts with WW Collections, Tax, Legal, and FP&A. As a leadership position, the Director supports the VP of Accounting by overseeing core accounting operations, including managing staff responsible for accounts receivable, revenue, general ledger accounting, and month-end financial reporting.
- We need to fill this position to maintain the daily oversight of accounting tasks, ensure accurate revenue booking, oversee a team of six individuals, and support the VP on special projects.
- This position will ensure that the accounting processes remain uninterrupted and efficient.
- Manage and oversee the preparation of timely financial statements and corporate submissions/disclosures
- Oversee core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, revenue recognition, deferrals, and general ledger accounting and GL account reconciliations
- Review and post journal entries for all aspects of the business
- Manage the month-end financial reporting process
- Consolidate support schedules for internal and external requests
- Supervise a team of accounting staff, ensuring effective team performance and efficiency
- Fulfill ad-hoc requests as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience with financial analysis, US GAAP and IFRS.
- 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a management or leadership role.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Desired skills:
- CPA, CMA, or Master's degree is a plus
- Experience in the entertainment industry preferred, ideally in transactional accounting
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office (specifically Excel), SAP and databases
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work with large amounts of data files by title, market, and territory
- Working knowledge of VAT & Withholding taxes
