MW Talent is excited to partner with a leading organization to fill the role of Laboratory EHS Specialist. Reporting to the Sr. Director of EHS, this position will be a key contributor to the Research and Development (R&D) group, ensuring the highest standards of environmental, health, and safety for employees, the community, and the environment. The Specialist will work closely with the R&D team to support lab operations and assist in scaling projects to production, contributing to the success of this innovative organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, standards, and training.
- Evaluate EHS needs in R&D labs, focusing on new chemicals, tasks, and equipment.
- Provide training on topics such as environmental compliance, PPE, machine guarding, fire safety, and HAZCOM.
- Conduct EHS audits, identify compliance risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on local, state, and federal EHS regulations affecting lab operations.
- Collaborate with Corporate EHS Management to ensure compliance with site environmental permits.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new or modified equipment.
- Assist with safety during scale-ups from benchtop to production.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related Science/Engineering fields.
- 3 years of EHS management experience in a laboratory or academic setting.
- Expertise in OSHA Lab Standard regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to travel 40-50% to support R&D labs.
