Job Overview: Project Controls Officer – Civil Construction
The Project Controls Officer is responsible for overseeing cost control, scheduling, and risk management for civil infrastructure projects. This role ensures projects remain on time, within budget, and compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent tools.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance, providing variance analysis.
- Implement and oversee earned value management (EVM) for progress tracking.
- Identify project risks, provide mitigation strategies, and assist in contingency planning.
- Coordinate with project managers to align cost and schedule data for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports on cost forecasts, cash flows, and budget trends.
- Support contract administration by tracking change orders, claims, and financial obligations.
- Utilize project management systems to enhance reporting and analytics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, finance, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in project controls for civil or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and cost control tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of government contracting regulations and compliance standards.
- Experience with risk management and earned value management (EVM).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
