Your Opportunity:
This is a full-time, in-person position reporting to the President of Operations. As the QA Engineer Team Lead, you'll take charge of the QA team, oversee the design and implementation of testing strategies, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure MyBambu products meet the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical expertise with mentorship, strategy, and process optimization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of QA Engineers (manual and automation).
- Define and implement QA strategies, test plans, and processes across mobile and backend systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and designers to ensure test coverage across user journeys and edge cases.
- Own and evolve our automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Appium, etc.) for regression, performance, and integration testing.
- Introduce shift-left testing practices and CI/CD quality gates.
- Monitor and analyze defect trends to drive continuous improvement.
- Champion quality across the organization, promoting a test-driven culture.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and security standards (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO, GDPR).
Skill and Abilities:
- Strong hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, Appium) and manual software testing.
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java), as well as native iOS and Android testing frameworks (e.g., XCTest. Espresso) for building automated test cases.
- Solid understanding of API testing (REST, Postman, Swagger, REST-assured).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Working knowledge of performance, security, and reliability testing tools is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Proven experience leading QA teams, setting goals, and driving high performance.
- Ability to mentor and coach QA engineers.
- Skilled in building testing strategies and processes across large-scale, distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with developers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders.
- Experience in creating and maintaining test documentation, including test plans, strategies, and metrics.
- Champion of shift-left testing, quality gates, and embedding QA into every stage of the SDLC.
- Familiarity with banking, fintech, or regulated environments, is a plus.
- Understanding of compliance standards like PCI DSS, GDPR, ISO, etc.
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile startup environment.
- High sense of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
Job Requirements:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Certifications in QA (e.g., ISTQB), test automation, or cloud platforms are a plus.
- Five years in software QA, with two years in a team lead or managerial capacity.
- Proven experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, etc.).
- Experience testing APIs (Postman, REST-assured) and backend systems.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in fintech or highly regulated environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with security, performance, and reliability testing.
- Exposure to mobile testing (iOS/Android).
- Experience with tools like TestRail, Allure, JIRA, or similar.
- Understanding of banking domain logic, core banking systems, or payment gateways.
