Role and Responsibilities
As a Woodshop Fabricator, you'll be a key part of our team, responsible for operating manufacturing machinery and creating custom furniture and interior design pieces from start to finish.
- Follow Shop Detail Drawings to accurately measure, layout, and construct furniture and interior design elements.
- Utilize both general and specialized woodshop tools, contributing to complex builds with precision and care.
- Operate CNC and woodworking machines (experience preferred but not required).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, contributing to shop safety and efficiency.
- Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with drawings and quality standards.
- Communicate with the Woodshop Manager about project timelines and address any issues that arise.
- Track time and materials used on each project to ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Uphold Fortner’s quality standards and the integrity of each design.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve your skills, enhance processes, and support overall shop success.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; 3-5 years of relevant experience (CNC programming and operations is a plus).
- Strong understanding of materials, tools, equipment, and construction techniques used in custom furniture manufacturing.
- Some experience in paint and stain finishing required.
- Experience fabricating complex products to high-quality standards.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and blueprints.
- Thorough knowledge of safety practices in the woodworking and furniture trades.
- Skilled in maintaining woodworking tools and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and positive attitude.
- Punctuality and good attendance are essential.
