Summary :
To maintain the Credit Union's accounting records and reports, ensuring they are in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and credit union accounting practices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Prepares or assists in preparation of assigned credit union accounting records. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to :
General Ledger (including preparation, review, and approval of journal entries and month end closing processes)
Accounts Payable and ReceivablePrepaids and Fixed AssetsBank AccountsInvestmentsShares and LoansMember PaymentsAdditional responsibilities assigned to the department.Reviews accounting personnel accounting reconcilements for accuracy and completeness.Assists accounting personnel in their work, helping them solve problems they encounter.
Assists Accounting Management with daily, monthly, and annual reporting requirements.Researches and assists members, other credit union departments, and CU management.Completes other responsibilities and tasks, as assigned.Performance Measurements :
Keeps all assigned GL accounts current and in balance according to established department standards and timeframes.Provides friendly, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and associates.Performs month-end activities, including balancing assigned accounts within 5 business days after the end of each month.Provides accurate reporting to staff and third parties.Increases efficiency and or quality of service by implementing procedural changes as required.Effectively identifies problems through research and resolves them in a timely manner.Completes all required compliance / operations training and abide by credit union and governmental rules and regulations.Knowledge and Skills :
ExperienceTwo to four years of similar or related experience.
Education1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program
SkillsCourtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and / or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
Experience with automated data processing systems including PC software programs and mainframe system.Physical Requirements :
Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and / or fingers. This includes but may not be limited to keyboarding, writing, and filing.Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 75 pounds for various needs.The person in this position constantly communicates in person and in writing with members, managers, and colleagues.
