Our Organization and Mission : The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Position Summary : This position involves coordinating and carrying out technical functions of the Human Resources Office of the Attorney General's Office. This position serves as the FMLA Coordinator. The incumbent will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and short-term or long-term disability plans. This is a highly responsible position necessitating the ability to perform the major portion of the duties assigned with a minimum amount of supervision and requiring the ability to work well with numerous and varied individuals both inside and outside the Department in a tactful and helpful manner.

Pay : $47,000.00 Annually

Qualifications :

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional personnel experience.

A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, communications, education or one of the social or behavioral sciences can substitute for one year of the required experience.

Professional or nonprofessional personnel experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

The Work You Will Do : The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following :

Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and / or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.

Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.

Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.

Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA / FSWP absences

Drafts and / or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files. Provides appropriate level of information to managers while protecting the employee’s HIPPA rights.

Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.

Implements, administers, and monitors the Sick Leave Donation and Parental Leave Program and related policy and procedures.

Responds to inquiries, verbal and written, relating to personnel policies and procedures. Attends meetings and seminars which are related to human resources, as needed.

Manages the agency’s quarterly service awards process.

Orders office supplies for the bureau.

Manages perquisite approval process.

Assist and Back-up in Attendance and Leave process as needed.

Serves as the backup for Worker’s Compensation claims processing.

Performs other duties as assigned.
