Tasks of Position
The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
- Arrives at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required training and meetings.
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products.
- Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.
- Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, Keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
- Providing exceptional service by greeting customers, and informing them of special features, product information, and services offered by the deli. Services include, but are not limited to the following: slicing to order, reducing packaging size of sandwiches, offering free samples, making sandwiches to order. Producing and displaying special features including: Homemade salads, recipes for entrees and sides.
- Understanding and capable of the following: preparing food for daily business as assigned, portioning and weighing salads, hot entrees, meat, cheese, or other food items, placing food in appropriate containers or bags to assure the product is visually appealing and transports without incident, closing, opening, filling cases, facing cases, and stacking product type.
- Operating (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, phone, scales, shrink wrapper, slicer, dishwasher, combi-oven, grill, lights in case, rotisserie and knives.
- Communicating and completing customers’ special order requests with accuracy and timeliness.
- Mentoring new employees or employees who are new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment
- Maintains the salad bar and Hot bar throughout the day, ensuring that all products are kept appealing, rotated and filled.
- Stocking containers, utensils and napkins; on the hot bar, salad bar, and soup bar throughout the day.
- Prepare pre-packaged salads, HMRs’, grab and go’ for the deli wall.
- Face and restock the deli wall and any secondary displays.
Physical Demands & Safety Expectations
- Most positions within MFB require physical effort to varying degrees. As such, associates are expected to be mindful of practicing MFB safety standards at all times. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates are required to report accidents within 24 hours.

- While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, use hands, fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, smell, talk, and hear.
- Associates must continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours, sitting 1-4 hours.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- May require use of ladders.
