JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: MY House Redemption Apparel and Thrift Shop Assistant
REPORTS TO: Business Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
LOCATION: 300 North Willow Street Wasilla AK 99654
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
GENERAL FUNCTIONS:General front counter cashier duties and services. Responsibilities include daily opening and closing protocols of the shop. Assist with marketing and Social Media Platforms. Interface with donors, clients, interns and customers daily. Assist in the processing of donated items including assisting customers with loading and unloading of donated items. Assist with the rotation of items during seasonal changes and or new displays changes, including the seasonal presentation of the mannequins.
Assist in all aspects of running a successful retail thrift shop.
Processes include cleaning, sorting, tagging, and displaying donated items. Provide mentoring, training and support to youth trainee interns and volunteers; sets standards for merchandise and communicates the same.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist in training interns on all aspects of being a skilled retail sales employee, including customer service training, cash/till management scheduling, creating sale-able items from donated clothing, coordinating with Nine Star for internships and other duties as assigned.
· Assist in marketing and Social Media Platforms.
· Maintaining store cleanliness and presentability, including vacuuming, dusting, polishing, to ensure a customer ready appearance. This may include physically moving donated furniture, clothing racks, displays and other objects.
· Coordinate and communicate about service with other staff in the building including Case Management and Gathering Grounds Staff.
· Utilize Case Management to deescalate and address issues that are beyond work training and impactful to job performance, with the goal of working through barriers to encourage coping and functional responses to stress.
· Demonstrate strong customer-service oriented behaviors. Treat everyone in a polite, professional manner. Handle concerns, problems and issues in a manner that is helpful and responsive.
· Comply with agency policies and procedures, and demonstrate professional, ethical, and confidential conduct in all work behavior.
· Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community providers and stakeholders in an effort to reduce stigma and advocate for our youth.
· Other duties and tasks as negotiated.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· High school diploma or general equivalency degree
· If in recovery must be in remission for two (2) year and working a program of recovery
· CPR/First Aid/AED certified or able to obtain within 90 days of hire
· Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal
background check
· Must have a valid Alaska Driver's License and insurable under My House vehicle insurance
· Must be able to physically perform basic duties of loading and unloading donated items and assist with movement of displays.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
· Experience providing customer service and information in a retail setting.
· Experience with social media platforms.
· Exceptional people skills.
· Use a computer to access, input and retrieve work-related information and to prepare written documents.
· Current CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
