Maintenance/Janitorial Supervisor

The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the janitorial staff and ensuring that all cleaning duties within the facility are completed to the highest standards. This role includes training and supervising cleaning staff, assigning tasks, ensuring proper use of cleaning materials and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, and lead a team of janitors to maintain cleanliness in all areas of the facility, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Develop and implement cleaning schedules and ensure the timely completion of all cleaning tasks.
• Assign cleaning duties to janitorial staff and ensure efficient use of time and resources.
• Monitor and inspect the quality of work completed by the janitorial team, providing feedback and guidance as necessary.
• Ensure that cleaning staff follows all health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals and waste.
• Address any facility cleaning issues or requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform regular walkthroughs of the facility to identify areas requiring additional cleaning or maintenance.
• Develop and enforce best practices for cleaning procedures to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
• Ensure that the team adheres to the company’s policies regarding attendance, dress code, and conduct.
• Handle staff scheduling and coverage for shifts, including managing requests for time off and addressing any staffing shortages.
• Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of janitorial staff.
• Handle and resolve any cleaning-related complaints or concerns from other departments or external parties.
• Maintain proper documentation, including timesheets, inventory logs, and work schedules.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in janitorial or custodial work, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools, and chemicals used in facility maintenance.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
• Ability to train staff and ensure adherence to proper cleaning procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to janitorial duties.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in janitorial services is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform manual labor tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and using heavy cleaning equipment.
• Capable of working in various environmental conditions (e.g., exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise from machinery).
