Position Summary:
The Associate Clinician/Counselor is responsible for providing direct services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking within Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities. This role combines case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy with outreach and education efforts aimed at raising awareness of culturally specific services. The Associate Clinician/Counselor will also play a key role in assisting the Counseling Director with therapy sessions as well as facilitation of psychoeducation and process groups. The position offers clinical supervision with a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Essential Duties/Functions/Responsibilities:
· Client Assessment & Treatment Planning: Conduct assessments of client’s mental health and psychological needs, with a focus on trauma-informed care. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique need and goals. Continuously monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
· Therapeutic Services: Provide individual therapy and counseling services to clients, children, and families. Facilitate psychoeducational and process-oriented support groups for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, fostering empowerment and healing. Apply trauma-informed therapeutic modalities to help clients address and process post-traumatic stress and related mental health conditions.
· Crisis Intervention & Safety Support: Provides crisis intervention services & collaborate with clients to create personalized safety plans. Assist in creating and implementing effective safety strategies and referrals ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of clients.
· Language Coordination: Coordinate language access services when necessary
· Training and Development: Participate in ongoing professional development & training opportunities to stay current on best practices in domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Collaborate with staff and external agencies to provide holistic support for clients’ physical, emotional and safety needs.
· Program Evaluation: Evaluate program activities by coordinating listening sessions, surveys, interviews, etc.
· Documentation and Reporting: Ensure that all client records are maintained accurately, confidentially, and in compliance with legal, ethical, and program standards.
· Perform other duties as assigned. Provide additional support to the team as needed, ensuring that all services align with organizational goals.
Minimum Requirements:
· Experience: An understanding through lived experience, work experience or training in domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or other gender-based violence issues.
· Collaboration and Independence: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse populations, including Asian and Pacific Islander groups, youth, immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ individuals, and people with disabilities across a wide age range.
· Communication Skills: Strong writing and public speaking abilities; conflict resolution skills are highly desired.
· Bilingual skills preferred with a priority on API languages (e.g., Chinese, Hmong, Vietnamese, or other Asian Pacific Islander languages). Spanish also preferred.
· Task Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational and coordination skills across various programs.
· Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using digital communication tools, as well as basic office equipment.
· Professionalism: Maintain attention to detail, responsiveness, and professionalism, demonstrating a professional demeanor both independently and within a team, including remote collaboration.
