Location: This position is based in White Plains, NY and will require some local travel for donor meetings, events, and conferences
Position Reports To: Chief Development Officer

My Sisters’ Place (MSP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Westchester County, New York, has grown from a grassroots task force and drop-in center, formalized in 1978, to a cutting-edge leader and resource in the fields of domestic violence and human trafficking. MSP strives to end domestic violence and human trafficking through comprehensive services, advocacy, and community education and works to create a world in which every individual has the basic human right to be free from gender-based violence and to engage in relationships that embrace the principles of respect, equality, and safety.


Position Overview:
MSP seeks a Grants and Foundations Manager to bring a creative and diligent approach to building and maintaining a robust program of Private and Family Foundation grants and Federal, State, and Local grants and contracts. Working closely with the CEO, Senior Executive Team, Development, Programs, Legal, and Finance teams, the Grants and Foundations Manager will collaborate on the development of strong grant proposals that embody the organization’s mission while persuasively communicating its strategic goals to a range of potential funders. The Grants and Foundations Manager will help grow and strengthen key external alliances with institutional and individual donors to increase visibility, impact, and financial resources.


Key Responsibilities:

Foundation and Government Fundraising:

  • Increase resource development with the strategic planning, preparation, and implementation of an expanded private and public grants program and maintain an 18-month activity calendar
  • Research, identify, and evaluate private, corporate, and public funding opportunities that align with agency programs and persuasively communicate the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders
  • Cultivate private funders, establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers
  • Prepare, coordinate, manage, and track applications for project-specific and general support grant and foundation opportunities including the creation of engaging narratives and other materials to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner
  • Work collaboratively with staff to complete renewal applications, interim and final reports, Letters of Inquiry and new funding proposals
  • Work closely with agency leadership and staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals
  • Provide analysis of potential funding opportunities; manage the internal review process and key deadlines for proposal submission
  • Manage complete process of preparing and submitting high-quality, competitive proposals; including extensive writing, working closely with finance on project budgets, and ownership of all required documentation
  • With Development Associate support, maintain a master list and timeline of applications, proposals reports, relevant deadlines and prospects
  • Assist with general agency writing projects as needed

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist in evaluating program effectiveness
  • Communicate accomplishments of existing programs to funders through reports
  • Represent agency at community meetings, coalitions and events
  • Participate in internal and external trainings
  • Work with development team to accomplish agency resource development goals
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree, Graduate Degree preferred
  • Superb writing and communications skills, bi-lingual a plus
  • 4 years professional experience including grant writing
  • Familiarity with government contracting process and public funding streams
  • Must be able to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and on a team
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of the funding community and proven fundraising record
  • Confidence with Word, Excel and donor database systems

Salary: $75,000-$80,000
