What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detox Technician position at My Time Recovery?
Schedule: Days and times may vary based on scheduling need
Shift times: AM- 6:30am to 3:00pm, PM-2:30pm to 11:00pm, NOC- 10:30pm to 7:00am
Position Overview
The Detox Technician is responsible for the support and monitoring of clients while in the program, as well as ensuring the physical environment is safe and clean. You will maintain close communication with clinical staff, medical staff and administration to ensure the client needs are being met.
Detox Technician reports to Healthcare Operations
Detox Technician Job Duties:
- Perform Detox Checks per policy of every thirty minutes face-to-face for at least 72 hours
- Perform Vital signs per our policy and report to Medical personnel of any abnormalities
- Collect Urine Analysis’s per the schedule provided by management
- Perform clients searches as needed when directed by management
- Observes clients self-administer medications and logs per policy
- Interacts with a client population that is actively intoxicated and/or experiencing symptoms of withdrawal. Provides guidance, safety, stability and direction to these clients.
- Identifies emergency situations and reacts appropriately
- Crisis intervention as needed
- May assist in transporting clients to hospitals, aftercare or other approve services as directed by clinical staff or program manager.
- Complete all mandatory documentation
- Serve as a role model for clients
- Prepare meals and clean up
- Provides clients with their daily schedules
- Ensure each client is accounted for during various checks during the shift
- Monitors the facility to ensure it is maintained neatly and orderly, including cleaning and sanitizing facilities to stay in compliance.
- Inspect company vehicles prior to driving for safety concerns and report any findings to the program manager.
- Must be sensitive to the diverse cultural and situational needs of the clients
- Coordinates with others to provide highest level of care
- Attends mandatory in -services, staff meetings, and on-line training as required.

Note: In all duties, all employees are to maintain resident Electronic Health Records (EHR) documents in the resident file per the APA ethical codes, organization policies, state and federal regulations, and The Joint Commission standards.
Qualifications
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification on file
- Current TB skin test and health screen report
- Two years clean and sober if in recovery
- Valid Driver license and maintain a clean driving record to satisfying the company's insurance policy.
- Maintain valid California food handlers certificate

- Abide by ethical codes of the APA and CCAPP

- Twelve Step Recovery Program
- Social Model detox
- Data Entry
- Working with addiction and dual diagnosis
- Signs and symptoms of alcohol and other drug intoxication and withdrawal. The handling of medical consultations and referrals shall be a necessity for emergencies.
