Job Description:
Client is seeking the services of an experienced and knowledgeable Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Subject Matter Expert (SME). This role will include responsibilities in two primary areas:
- The EIM SME will focus on the strategy for ensuring the quality of enterprise master data and preparing Client for its future-state data management and analytics platform.
- The SME will also assist in the development and implementation of a data archiving strategy and support the data warehousing strategy for Client’s evolving data infrastructure
- Master Data Strategy – Maintaining and refining the existing master data strategy, with a focus on the Person domain and governance.
- Future-State Data Strategy – Supporting the data strategy assessment and roadmap development for Clients future data management platform.
- Data Archive Strategy – Assisting in the development and execution of Clients data archiving strategy to ensure long-term data storage and compliance.
The role will also oversee the transition between the assessment vendor engagement and subsequent implementation, ensuring seamless continuity and readiness for future data management practices.
Functional Responsibilities:
Master Data Strategy:
• Governance and Stewardship:
o Support and refine the Person domain master data strategy, emphasizing governance, stewardship, and best practices.
o Ensure compliance with data standards, policies, and processes to maintain consistency across systems.
• Best Version of the Truth (BVoT):
o Oversee the continued development of processes for identifying and maintaining a “best identity” for each person within the master data system.
o Ensure integration and synchronization of master data across applications and systems.
• Data Quality and Integration:
o Monitor and address data quality issues within the Person domain, including matching, merging, and deduplication processes.
o Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the master data strategy aligns with organizational needs and policies.
Preparation for Vendor Engagement:
• Develop and document metadata collection and cataloging processes, identifying data assets, categorizing them by role in supporting the ERS mission, and specifying metadata requirements (e.g., quality, business context, and analytics applicability).
• Support the definition of scope and requirements for the data strategy assessment and roadmap vendor engagement.
Data Archiving Strategy:
• Advise and assist on strategy for archiving data not intended for migration to the future-state pension and benefits administration platform.
• Define/Document policies and tools to manage legacy data storage and retrieval.
• Integrate the archive strategy into the vendor engagement scope.
Gap Analysis and Readiness:
• Post-roadmap assessment, create plans to address critical gaps identified by the vendor that could impede roadmap implementation.
• Oversee pre-implementation initiatives to ensure readiness before transitioning to the implementation phase
Scope of Work Development:
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a comprehensive Scope of Work (SOW) for onboarding the implementation vendor.
• Ensure the SOW includes detailed requirements, deliverables, and milestones for executing the roadmap.
Ongoing Duties:
• Metadata and Data Catalog Implementation:
o Implement metadata management and cataloging strategies across all phases, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaboration and Leadership:
o Provide guidance to internal teams on EIM best practices, policies, and tools.
o Train staff on metadata management, data catalog strategies, and master data governance.
• Continuous Improvement:
o Monitor trends in data management platforms (cloud, on-premise, or hybrid) and metadata management to identify opportunities for improvement.
o Recommend enhancements to existing processes and policies based on industry best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.

Proven experience in designing and managing metadata and data catalog strategies.

Strong understanding of data archiving strategies and processes.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Certification in Data Management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP).
Familiarity with industry regulations, compliance requirements, and archiving best practices.
Experience developing detailed scopes of work (SOWs) for future-state implementation projects.
