MyCHN is a nonprofit organization providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services to communities in the South Houston and Gulf Coast area. We were founded in 2008 with one provider, three exam rooms and a big dream. Today, we have over 100 providers and more than 15 locations. Job Summary :
The Planning and Development Director will lead and manage the organization's strategic planning efforts while ensuring the alignment of grant management processes with the organization's overarching strategic objectives. This role involves supervising and guiding the grants staff, overseeing the preparation and submission of federal change in scope requests, reviewing contracts, and preparing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to ensure compliance with both internal and federal standards. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives, manage the effective execution of grants, and ensure all agreements and requests reflect organizational priorities.
Duties and Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Alignment of Grant Management :
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure grant management practices align with the organization's strategic priorities
- Guide the grants team in prioritizing and structuring grants to support long-term organizational goals
- Monitor the integration of grant programs into the strategic plan, ensuring that they achieve measurable impact
Supervision and Management of Grants Staff :
Supervise and mentor a team of grant managers and staff, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunitiesEstablish clear goals, performance metrics, and priorities for the grants team, ensuring alignment with the strategic planConduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs to improve team effectiveness and capabilitiesFoster a collaborative, high-performing team environment that emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation in grant management practicesFederal Change in Scope Requests :
Oversee the preparation and submission of federal change in scope requests to ensure all documentation is accurate, thorough, and in compliance with regulationsManage responses to federal agencies regarding changes in scope, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and regulatory requirementsStay current with federal regulations and guidelines, ensuring compliance and supporting the efficient management of grantsContract and MOU Review :
Lead the review of contracts, grants, and agreements to ensure they meet strategic objectives and comply with applicable legal and regulatory standardsOversee the preparation of MOUs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and ensuring all agreements are properly executed and monitoredCollaborate with executive, finance, and other departments to ensure effective management of contracts and agreementsStrategic Planning Leadership :
Monitor progress toward strategic goals, providing recommendations and adjustments as needed to ensure funding requests support the vision of the organizationCollaboration and Communication :
Communicate key strategic planning and grant management updates to senior leadership, staff, and external partnersTraining and Development :
Design and deliver training programs for staff on grant management, compliance, and strategic alignmentContinuously assess and address team development needs to ensure staff remains informed on industry best practices and regulatory changesFoster a culture of learning and development within the grants teamPerforms other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative OfficerRequired Skills / Abilities :
Proven experience managing and developing a team, with strong leadership and coaching skillsDeep knowledge of private, state, and federal grant regulations, contracts, and compliance standardsExceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearlyExperience in preparing federal change in scope requests and familiarity with federal compliance standardsExpertise in reviewing and drafting contracts, grants, and MOUsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in project management tools and grant management systemsPreferred Skills / Abilities
Experience in federal, state, and foundation grant writing and complianceFamiliarity with strategic planning frameworks (e.g., Balanced Scorecard, Logic Models)Prior experience leading or supervising cross-functional teamsRequired Education and Experience :
