What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Engineer position at MYCON General Contractors Inc?
OFFICE OPERATIONS
- Set up initial submittal register logs.
- Set up procurement log.
- Participates in establishing corporate and field plans.
- Ensures the Project Team has updated plans, specs, supplemental information, and submittals available always.
- Set up drawing logs based on “for construction” drawings and update and maintain them throughout the project for all drawing changes.
- Learn to assist the project team in the preparation and updating of monthly project schedules.
- Attends job turn-over meetings for the purpose of Q&A with the Estimator about job specifics and for the general purpose of accepting ownership from this point forward.
- Learns to assist the Project team in preparation and information gathering for potential change orders for both the owner and subcontractors.
- Learns the Request for Information (RFI) process.
- Learn to create, log and track all RFIs from the superintendent, subcontractors, and suppliers, route this information to all parties involved, track until RFI is completely answered, and maintain an up-to-date log and contract documents.
- Learn the processes for Architect Supplemental Information directives (ASI), Construction Change Directives (CCD), and Requests for Pricing (RFP).
- Review and learn details of project documents.
- Learn and review how to process all shop drawings and submittals for the project.
- Learns accuracy and sequencing with project documents and conditions.
FIELD OPERATIONS
- Attends the Superintendent/PM/PE/Architect/Owner walk-thru of the project and learns about the development and resolution of the punch list.
- Learns the process to log and track the completion of the “Rolling Punch List” with the assistance of the Superintendent and PM.
- Learn how to prepare and maintain a Project Record Set of drawings.
- Learn to prepare and coordinate an “As-Built” set of drawings on the job site, with the assistance of the Superintendent.
- Learn the process for creating and maintaining digital photo documentation of the project.
- Attend various project construction meetings.
PRECONSTRUCTION
- Beginning proficiency in identifying scope items within plans and specifications
- Supports the preconstruction team with all items required to submit bids.
- Assists project team with required documentation for job turnover meetings. Learns how to prepare preconstruction strategy meetings to learn estimate and bidding processes.
- Acquires knowledge of quantity takeoffs across multiple trades in preparation for bid and budget submission.
Work time will be divided into FOUR-month increments as follows: 4 months in Estimating, 4 months in Field, and 4 months in office operations.
