Job Summary
The Storeroom Clerk / PM Tech is an entry-level hybrid position within the Maintenance Department, combining inventory management responsibilities with preventive maintenance support. This role is designed for individuals looking to begin a career in industrial maintenance. Candidates must have either completed a technical program (e.g., Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or similar) or be actively pursuing a relevant degree while working in this role. The Storeroom Clerk / PM Tech ensures the storeroom operates efficiently, maintains accurate inventory records, and assists the maintenance team with preventive maintenance tasks to support operational uptime and equipment reliability.
Responsibilities:
Storeroom Duties:
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming parts, supplies, and equipment in an organized manner.
- Issue parts and materials to maintenance personnel based on work orders or requests.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software or systems.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory audits.
- Monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and coordinate with purchasing for reordering.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and documentation of all storeroom items.
- Keep the storeroom clean, safe, and organized according to company standards.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) Tech Duties:
- Assist in performing routine preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Conduct basic inspections, lubrication, and minor adjustments under supervision to ensure equipment reliability.
- Document PM activities, including observations and completed tasks, in the maintenance management system.
- Support the maintenance team in identifying potential equipment issues during PM rounds.
- Learn and apply basic troubleshooting techniques to assist with equipment upkeep.
General Duties:
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize tasks and support plant needs.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in training opportunities to develop technical skills and knowledge in industrial maintenance.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Must have completed a technical program (e.g., Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent) OR be actively enrolled in and pursuing a degree in a related field.
- Prior experience in inventory management or maintenance is a plus but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and data entry.
- Ability to learn and use maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, noise).
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position with potential for overtime as needed to support maintenance schedules.
- May include rotating shifts or weekend work depending on plant requirements.
Career Development:
This hybrid role serves as an entry point into the Maintenance Department, offering hands-on experience and skill-building opportunities. Successful performance may lead to advancement into full-time PM Tech or other maintenance roles (e.g., T4 level). However, if it is deemed necessary that the candidate does not meet the requirements to move to a maintenance position (T4), they will return to a similar previous position.
