JOB PURPOSE
The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift truck to move material around the warehouse, storage yard, production area, or similar location.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
- Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
- Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
- Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks, cars, or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, production, and storage areas.
- Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
- Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams with swivel-hooks, hoists, or elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, or stack material.
- Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.
- Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
- Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to truck mechanic.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education
High school diploma or GED, preferred.
Licensure/Credentials
- Valid certification to operate forklifts, preferred.
- Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an onsite test.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year Lull Lift and Telehandler forklift operation.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Proven experience Lull Lift and Telehandlerforklift operator
- Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Vision: able to see and utilize fine work tools, computer screens; able to move through the office, production floor, and from point to point to find specific co-workers and in-house experts.
- Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and deliver information to groups of varying size.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a forklift or similar equipment.
- Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 25lbs when transporting document, printed paper, or similar items.
- Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs on occasion.
- Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull equipment, tools, cart, office chairs, and other office equipment.
- Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of times in front of a computer, writing, or participating in meetings.
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time in meetings or discussions.
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around machinery and equipment sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces.
