Job Title: Shipping Clerk
Department: Shipping
Reports To: Shipping Supervisor
Job Purpose
Perform Shipping and logistic activities to support Shipping Supervisor and company goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain department organization and inventory/usage
- Plan and construct skidding and other wood-based packaging as required.
- Preparing of items and equipment for shipment. This includes the use of power and pneumatic tools such as saws, nail guns and staplers.
- Picking and packing orders based on customer requirements, including verifying item details and quantities.
- Creating and affixing shipping labels with accurate addresses
- Maintaining accurate shipping documentation including packing slips, invoices, and delivery receipts.
- Properly packaging items for shipment, including adding protective materials to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace within the warehouse. All duties assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 1-3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Attention to detail: Ability to accurately identify and handle products with precision.
- Basic computer skills: Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software to generate labels and track shipments.
- Physical ability: Ability to lift and move packages of varying weights.
- Communication skills: Effective communication with internal teams, customers, and carriers.
- Math skills: Basic math skills to calculate quantities and weights for shipping.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing area with dust, noise, moving machinery, heat, cold and humidity.
Physical Requirements
Production position. Spends the majority of the work shift walking, bending and stooping.
Generally requires clear vision at 20 inches or less for reading. Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required to carry supplies, tools and equipment throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. with no assistance.
