About The Role

In this role, you will join a team that identifies business opportunities from North American clients in Swiss Re's Property & Casualty Reinsurance Business Unit. You will generate ideas, analyze data, and present to clients. Working with client management, you'll help create reinsurance business and deepen Swiss Re's understanding of clients, strengthening relationships and turning insights into opportunities.

About

This role requires a good grasp of (re)insurance, enterprise valuation, corporate finance, industry trends, regulatory frameworks, rating agencies, and capital markets. You'll need to turn this knowledge into profitable business opportunities and engage in strategic discussions about the value of reinsurance. Here is the overarching goal of this role:

  • Develop and promote the value proposition of reinsurance as a pro-active element within clients' strategic and corporate finance toolkit
  • Analyze clients' valuation, investor expectations, capital flexibility, and other financial and strategic measures and engage with them on how reinsurance can enhance those metrics
  • Actively participate on selected Client Engagement Teams with a focus on opportunity identification and development
  • Interface regularly with underwriting colleagues to understand Swiss Re's view of and appetite for different risks and identify changes in client needs
  • Contribute within the global P&C Business Development community, sharing ideas, and leveraging our global presence

About The Team

Business Development is a global team. We work across client segments and lines of business to increase business origination and enhance client dialogues through understanding client needs – especially with respect to corporate finance, financial markets, investor, and regulator demands.

The Business Development team identifies client needs and applicable reinsurance opportunities and assess their impact on client financial performance. The team is collaborative and made up of creative, inquisitive, and engaging people who seek opportunity, explore possibilities, and bring them to commercial realization.

About You

  • In depth knowledge of corporate finance, solvency and ratings capital models, and P&C insurance company valuation drivers – 3-5 years
  • You bring in experience and knowledge of the primary P&C insurance market, trends, and products – nice to have
  • Ability to prioritize and apply sound commercial judgment, navigate ambiguity, self-motivate, work with agility across multifaceted clients, markets, and risks, and pro-actively generate ideas and opportunities for client engagement
  • Strong communicator, particularly with an aptitude for sales

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week. This role is not eligible for either relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
