In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
Protein Expression, Purification, and Characterization:
- Express and purify recombinant proteins in microbial systems using shake flasks and automated bioreactors
- Characterize in-process samples and purified proteins using methods including, but not limited to, OD determination, metabolite profiling, SDS-PAGE
- Complete project plans according to all specifications, including timeline and budget
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and work practices in the fields of protein expression, purification, and characterization
- Prepare and deliver final presentation to the team on work performed during the internship
- Maintain meticulous records; report results of scientific experiments, manufacturing runs, and analytical tests accurately and in a timely manner and ensure the labs are clean, well-organized and safe
- Work effectively both within a team and independently on assigned projects
- Working towards an Undergraduate degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, microbiology, or a closely related field.
- Previous lab experience
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and ability to follow written directions
- Exposure to one or a combination of the following is preferred: Automated single-use or glass bioreactor systems and control software or GE ÄKTA systems and unicorn software
