The Vertex Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Students can expect to be challenged by their project plan, connect with other interns, and feel valued by the Vertex community. Not only will interns learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.
Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and passionate intern to join our Formulation Development team. The Formulation Development group is focused on bringing molecules to clinic that have transformative benefit for patients. The intern will work closely with other formulation and pharmaceutical scientists to develop amorphous solid dispersions to enhance bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs. Through this internship, the intern will collaborate with other scientists, plan and execute experiments, analyze data, and present results. The internship will also provide the opportunity to learn about the drug development process.

Key Responsibilities
- Review scientific literature
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute experiments
- Record and analyze data
- Summarize results in presentations and written reports
- Comply with all relevant ethical, safety, and training procedures
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering/science field with strong interest in drug development
- Previous hands-on laboratory experience
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures
- Excellent written and oral communication and critical thinking skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
- Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before August 2025
- Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week May - August 2025

- Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
- On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
