Job Summary
We are seeking an Laboratory Animal Technician I (NIA) to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Poolesville, MD.
As an Laboratory Animal Technician I (NIA), you will maintain, monitor, and document the health, well-being, and physical environment of animals on-site.
Additional responsibilities include :
- Monitoring daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations.
- Animal husbandry duties include daily water bottle / automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water;
environmental enrichment; perform cage changing and / or cage cleaning as required.
- Maintain records related to the animal and facility functions; record animal health concerns and report as needed.
- Assists with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species.
- Receive, inspect, and house incoming animals.
- General housekeeping.
Job Qualifications
The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician I position :
- High school diploma or GED required
- Eligibility for the AALAS certification at the ALAT level required
- Experience with lab animals, specifically non-human primates, highly preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education / experience listed above.
The pay for this position is $21 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
