Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Buyer Planner Floor Supervisor to join our team in Torrance, CA. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the purchasing, planning, and production activities while leading a team of floor personnel to ensure efficient operations. This is an ideal role for a professional with a strong background in electronics parts in the aerospace industry.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs
- Create and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and maximize efficiency
- Create bid-to-buy orders and price negotiation
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align purchasing and production plans with overall business objectives
- Manage and mentor a team of floor personnel, providing guidance and support to achieve production goals
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials
- Utilize our ERP systems Netsuite to track and report on key performance indicators
- Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the production process
- Identify and resolve supply chain issues to minimize disruptions to production
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
- Purchase orders and requests for quotes (RFQ)
- In-depth and intricate negotiation of various pricing on commodities assigned, deliveries, and lead times.
- Review, analyze, process, and expedite MRP (Material Requisition Planning) daily.
- Manage the process of Indented Bill of Materials (BOM); to ensure the detailed list of parts, components, and sub-assemblies of a product are ordered, delivered, and distributed to the shop floor daily.
- Release raw materials, and subassembly in time to the shop floor
- Support in setting up min/max kanban's on consumable inventory
Qualifications
- 5 years experience with a High School diploma or BA in Supply Chain or related field
- Read and interpret blueprints and parts lists with the ability to purchase complex electronics parts and products.
- Experience with Government/DOD-related sub-contracts preferred
- 5 years of experience in ELECTRONICS purchasing, planning, or related field
- 2 years of supervisory experience in an aerospace manufacturing or production electronic assembly environment.
- 5 years in electronics vendor contract negotiations and vendor relations
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control principles
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick, informed decisions
- Strong understanding of complete assembly of aerospace electronics manufacturing processes and production planning
