What You'll Do
The Chief Estimator will prepare civil estimates by performing take-offs, gathering proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents. Identifies lab or, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents. Computes costs by analysing labour, material, subcontractor, vendor, and time requirements. Performs pre-construction duties as needed to assist in management of site jobs including obtaining permits, project buyout, issuing subcontracts, generating schedules, and procuring site materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Duties include all aspects of Estimating, Project Bid Processing, Project Document Handling, Bid Proposals, Subcontracting, including :
Estimating
Project Bid Processing
Project Document Handling
Preparing Bid Proposals
Subcontracting
Change Order Coordination

What We're Looking For
Understanding Project Scope : An Estimator with an understanding of the project inside and out, to include project goals and objectives, phases & subphases, and required resources so that all of the important costs are included.
An Estimator who Pays Close Attention to Project Details : Our ideal Estimator must pay close attention to details when creating accurate estimates to ensure every possible expense is accounted for.
Clear Communication : The ability to clearly communicate is important for transparency, avoiding misunderstandings, and ultimately creating accurate estimates.
Time Management : Construction project estimators typically are balancing multiple estimating jobs at once, so being self-disciplined with your time management is important for completing estimates in a timely manner.

Important Notes :
This position is based in Arroyo Grande, CA, and requires full-time, in-office / on-site presence. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
We are seeking qualified candidates that are available to start immediately.
We strongly prefer local candidates or those with prior plans to relocate.
