What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch and Dock Assistant - Night - Full Time position at Myles Transportation Inc.?
This full-time 2nd shift position involves working in a transportation office and terminal dock, dispatching drivers, preparing paperwork and freight for next-day deliveries, and staging freight for deliveries. Position also includes: loading/unloading freight via a pallet jack or forklift, yard jockey and physical maintenance and cleaning of dock until all duties are completed. Must have warehouse experience, forklift experience, loading 48' and 53' dry vans and experience as yard jockey.
Preferred experience loading trucks with a propane powered sit-down forklift.
Typical hours are M-F starting at 12:30PM until approximately 9-10PM or until all tasks are completed.
Responsibilities
- Assisting Dock Supervisor
- Assisting Dispatch Supervisor
- Strip trailers and stage freight (on pallets) on dock via pallet jack or forklift
- Assist in load planning of trailers for next-day delivery LTL trucking
- Review loads: Communicate with Dock Supervisor on room and weight issues and any paperwork errors
- Perform Yard Jockey duties moving 48' and 53' trailers to/from dock to yard
- Maintain machinery on dock such as checking/filling oil and water on all fork lifts
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and security of loading dock for continued non-stop operations
- Any other requirements deemed necessary by terminal manager & dock supervisor to ensure safe and efficient dock operations
