Job Description
MyOme is looking for a creative and pragmatic individual to lead our frontend design and implementation effort. This is a big position and a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about conceiving of frontend designs, who has the full-spectrum frontend experiences that are required to implement them without a dedicated designer, and who is comfortable with crafting a big picture while working incrementally toward that goal. The successful candidate will demonstrate an eagerness to engage in a broad frontend leadership : requirements gathering, mockups, fast prototyping and iteration, technical decisions, collaboration with the backend team, and frontend implementation. You will need to demonstrate an eye for good UX, smooth UI, and pragmatic execution. Ideally, you also aspire to grow a small team as needed.
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end frontend development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production deployment
Lead technical architecture decisions and establish frontend development best practices
Own UX / UI design and development by making stylistic decisions independently, creating intuitive interactions, and driving a cohesive visual experience. Work without a dedicated designer to define layouts, user flows, and aesthetics through rapid prototyping, user feedback, and iteration.
Implement and maintain quality standards through code reviews, testing protocols, and documentation
Mentor junior developers and cultivate a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture
Coordinate with backend teams to design and implement APIs that enable efficient frontend development
Contribute to agile development processes including sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
Develop and maintain technical roadmap for frontend architecture and team growth
Balance quick wins with long-term technical sustainability
Lead frontend security, performance optimization, and accessibility initiatives
Manage relationships with external contractors and align t heir work with internal standards
Skills and Experience
No specific degree prerequisite. If you can do the work well and humbly, we want to talk with you.
10 years of frontend development experience with 4 years leading small teams
Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade web applications
Experience with both content-driven sites (like public websites) and transactional frontends
Expert-level proficiency in modern frontend development, including TypeScript and frontend frameworks (React and Vue preferred)
Experience with state management solutions and frontend architecture patterns
Strong understanding of browser compatibility issues and solutions
Experience with responsive design and progressive web applications
Deep understanding of web performance optimization and debugging
Experience with modern frontend testing frameworks and CI / CD pipelines
Comfortable with using and providing feedback on API design
Experience with HIPAA compliance and healthcare software, or other privacy-focused frontends
Strong visual and interaction design skills, with the ability to create elegant and intuitive UIs without a dedicated designer
Experience with design principles such as layout, typography, color theory, and accessibility
Familiarity with UX tools like Figma, Sketch, or wireframing tools (even if used informally for personal mockups)
Leadership Skills
Demonstrated experience leading small frontend teams (2-5 developers)
Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience mentoring junior developers and conducting technical interviews
Track record of successful collaboration with UX / UI designers
Ability to balance competing priorities and make pragmatic technical decisions
Experience with agile me thodologies and sprint planning
Location, Compensation, and Benefits
Location : Hybrid; San Francisco (near Montgomery BART) 2-3 days / week
Compensation : 190K-215K / year depending on experience; equity; and the following benefits :
