Job Description
MyOme seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to help lead the software engineering team at MyOme. You will work with the Director of Engineering and a team of software engineers to oversee the efficient execution of engineering implementations. You’ll be joining a great team of creative, caring, and pragmatic engineers.
Responsibilities
Work with the Director of Engineering, your engineering team, and other stakeholders within MyOme to lead and support the creation of a robust and scalable software system for providing clinically relevant genetic results to patients.
Manage a team of backend engineers, including hiring, evaluating, mentoring, and dismissing employees.
Oversee day-to-day execution of projects and provide technical expertise to guide them.
Contribute to the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of systems appropriate for a regulated environment.
Assign and assist with work for your team to achieve company goals and reliably deliver on complex projects.
Expected breakdown of time : 70% management, 20% technical leadership, 10% hands-on coding.
Skills and Experience
No specific degree or field prerequisite. If you can do the work well and humbly, we want to talk with you.
Exceptional experience with Python, Django, API and system design, and AWS.
Strong experience with modern software development, unit testing, CI / CD, devops, logging, and monitoring.
Familiarity with React, Terraform, Kubernetes, networking, Docker, and Linux is valuable.
Ability to thrive in a nimble start-up environment with changing priorities. Know the difference between scrappy one-off solutions and production-grade solutions and when each is appropriate to be used.
Excellent communication and organizational skills; familiarity with non-dogmatic agile development practices.
Leadership Skills
Demonstrated experience leading backend teams
Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience mentoring developers and conducting technical interviews
Ability to balance competing priorities and make pragmatic technical decisions
Experience with agile methodologies
Location, Compensation, and Benefits
Location : Hybrid; San Francisco (near Montgomery BART) 2-3 days / week
Compensation : 180K-210K / year depending on experience; equity; and the following benefits :
