Lead Orthodontic Assistant provides functional supervision for orthodontic assistants and works as a orthodontic assistant. Responsible for operations support, including orthodontic assisting, monitoring ortho assistants’ productivity, support for maintenance of clinical equipment, clinical support staff assignments, monitor clinical support staff for CDC, OSHA, HIPAA, Risk Management, and safety compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Monitor and prioritize workflow of orthodontic assistants
Assist orthodontist during orthodontic treatment procedures
Manage escalated patient issues
Responsible for ortho assistant orientation, training, supervision, and performance evaluation
Collaborate with management on disciplinary action plans when necessary
Maintains compliance with CDC, OSHA, Risk Management, and safety regulations and guidelines and compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations
Assumes responsibility for the cleanliness of the clinical area and the dental equipment and instruments used through the sterilizing and polishing of dental instruments; oiling and cleaning of equipment; and general cleaning of the orthodontic clinic
Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Previous management experience/responsibilities
Knowledge of orthodontic terminology and medical insurance requirements
Customer Service orientation and attention to detail
Ability to use tact and sensitivity to timing in personal transactions
Working knowledge of computer applications: word processing, patient management system, and spreadsheets
Ability to interpret and comply with applicable regulations and guidelines, including HIPAA, CDC and OSHA
Education and Experience:
Certified as an Orthodontic Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Body (DANB) preferred
High school diploma or GED
Two years of orthodontic assistant experience
