About this Role
This is a great opportunity for an energetic and fun individual to join our team as the Activities Coordinator. The Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing the activities care plan for the PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program. This individual plan and implement activities for individual and group based on the participant’s needs, interests, abilities, and strengths. The Activities Coordinator participates in IDT (Interdisciplinary team) meetings and conducts initial, annual, semi-annual and emergency assessments of the participants. This position is responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic activity programs, to improve and maintain participant’s physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual functioning.
\n- Collaborate with the Care Team: Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings and care planning to support participant well-being.
- Plan and Lead Activities: Design and execute recreational, artistic, and cognitive activities to inspire and engage participants.
- Celebrate Culture: Develop culturally enriching and inclusive programs that reflect our participants' diverse backgrounds.
- Coordinate with Care Partners: Work with Physical and Occupational Therapists to create activities that enhance or maintain physical abilities.
- Connect to the Community: Build relationships with local organizations and coordinate exciting community outings.
- Track and Improve: Document activity effectiveness, assess participant needs, and adjust programming to ensure continued success.
- Lead with Enthusiasm: Oversee and support Activities Assistants and Personal Care Attendants to elevate program quality.
- Support Daily Operations: Assist with event prep, cleanup, and meal service, ensuring a seamless participant experience.
- Promote Wellness and Safety: Incorporate infection control practices, safe food handling, and disease prevention into daily routines.
- Contribute to Growth: Collaborate on outreach events and assist in audits and other compliance activities to support program excellence.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Experience: Previous work in healthcare facilities is a plus!
- Passion for Seniors: A heart for serving high-risk seniors and frail older adults—you’re driven by purpose and care.
- Unique Qualifications: At least one of the following:
- Two years of experience in a social, recreational, or educational program (within the past five years), with at least one year in a healthcare, mental health, or similar setting.
- Certification or background as an art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, occupational therapist assistant, or qualified social worker.
- Completion of 36 hours of specialized training approved by the State of California Department of Aging, with ongoing consultation from a therapist or social worker.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire).
- Communication Skills: You’re skilled in connecting with participants, families, caregivers, and teammates.
- Safety Awareness: You prioritize safety and know how to keep everyone secure during activities.
- Organized and Adaptable: Dependable, resourceful, and flexible—you’re ready to handle anything that comes your way.
- Languages: Bonus points if you’re bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin, or English/Vietnamese!
- Location is in Compton, CA (90221)
- Schedule is Monday - Friday 8am-5pm ONSITE
- We’re excited to share that we plan to hire for this role in January/February, with our new site opening in July 2025! Onsite training will be provided at our Greater Los Angeles location to set you up for success.
