A Brief Overview
Myrtle Beach Building Supply is a leading specialty building materials provider along the coast of South Carolina. We operate multiple locations, including Murrells Inlet and Little River.
The Inventory Control Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing inventory control operations across our locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Inventory Specialists, including scheduling, training, performance reviews, and HR functions.
- Review and approve cycle counts, inventory adjustments, short shipments, and returns.
- Oversee receiving processes for all products at each location.
- Purchase non-PO manufacturing products and non-stock items not handled by the Purchasing Department or Sales Teams.
- Analyze cycle count variances with management to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Notify management of inventory adjustments due to damage, short shipments, returns, or other reasons.
- Conduct bi-annual and fiscal inventories for each location and complete cycle counts as requested by management.
- Suggest new product code set-ups to management or request assistance.
- Maintain vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs established with key suppliers.
- Stay informed about products manufactured in-store and their assembly processes.
- Collaborate with management and purchasing to minimize excess and obsolete stock.
- Work with supplier representatives to manage damaged and defective products.
- Manage excessive product allocations from the Order Entry process.
- Lead quality control efforts and address issues with teams to improve product quality.
- Foster a culture of accountability and teamwork.
Requirements:
- Supervise 4 associates (direct and indirect reports)
- Accountable for budgeting and goal-setting
- Hire/fire authority and performance feedback
- Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 4-6 years of inventory control experience with strong product knowledge
- 1-3 years in an operational staff position
