What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Perioperative position at Myrtue Medical Center?
SCHEDULE: Full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; Call-time on a scheduled basis
The RN utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Perioperative setting. he/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Current Iowa license required. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. No experience required other than during formal education process.
The RN assesses, identifies problems, and develops plan of care. Performs initial (pre-op admission) and ongoing follow-up assessments with complete and appropriate documentation. Summarizes assessment data and makes nursing diagnoses which are documented. Develops plan of care based on nursing diagnoses. Develops specific nursing orders and expected outcomes. Consults as needed with other members of health care team (Drs, PT, ST, RT, OT, Dietary, SS, etc). The RN handles instruments, supplies and equipment essential to the surgical procedure. Displays understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates needs of the surgeon. Functions collaboratively with the medical staff and other disciplines to provide and enhance patient care anticipating patient care needs, individualizing care as appropriate.
