We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team with administrative and operational tasks. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth functioning of legal processes, case management, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing files
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence
- File and organize legal documents, both electronically and in physical files, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and record-keeping policies
- Conduct basic legal research and gather relevant case information and documentation
- Coordinate communication between internal teams, clients, courts, and external counsel
- Assist with case preparation, including compiling exhibits, trial binders, and legal briefs
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents and other legal materials
- Maintain legal databases, track case statuses, and update internal systems accordingly
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certificate in paralegal studies or legal administration preferred
- 2 years of experience in a legal assistant or similar administrative role
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, documentation, and procedures
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
