Purpose of Position :
The Grants Manager will work closely with the Director of Grants, the Finance Department, project directors, other key staff, and external partners to ensure best practices in all aspects of the grants cycle. This position will assist with finding new sources of funding; managing grant proposal deadlines, submitted applications, and reporting calendars; and will work collaboratively or independently on proposal development, budget preparation, and reporting. In addition, the Grants Manager will help build effective relationships with private foundation and government granting organizations in support of institutional fundraising priorities.
Essential Functions :
- Research and identify new sources of major foundation and government funding sources to support the Museum’s strategic priorities.
- Manage pipeline of current and prospective grant funders that align with the Museum’s priorities.
- Create data management protocol for grants in Tessitura, the Museum’s customer relations management database, and assist with records management, entry, and clean up.
- Manage annual calendar of grant proposal deadlines and track status of submitted applications, report due dates, and related project milestones.
- Work as part of a team or independently to prepare grant application narratives and budgets, stewardship correspondence, and interim / final reports.
- Monitor active grants to ensure funding is spent down, project is implemented within specified timeframe, and grant compliances are met.
- Track grant activity against benchmarks and milestones in partnership with project directors and the finance department.
