SUMMARY DESCRIPTION :
Mystic Seaport Museum is seeking a full-time, year-round dynamic Program Assistant to support the Maritime Adventure Program (MAP), which is part of the Museum’s Center for Experiential Education. The mission of the Center for Experiential Education (CEE) is to engage under-resourced high school aged youth in experiential maritime education anchored in positive youth development to help them enhance their social, emotional, and leadership skills. Students who participate in the Maritime Adventure Program learn skills in marine carpentry, sailing and rowing, powerboating, practical astronomy and navigation, and maritime heritage and marine conservation. Students also participate in teambuilding activities on the Museum’s low ropes challenge course. The Program Assistant will work closely with the Program Coordinator of MAP to recruit youth participants, develop and implement curriculum and activities, and implement staff and participant training on leadership and positive youth development. Successful candidates are energetic role models who enjoy working with youth.
