Director of People and Culture
The Director of People and Culture will lead and manage all aspects of Human Resources to ensure strategic alignment with the organization's mission, compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and the cultivation of a workplace culture that attracts, develops, supports, and retains high-performing employees. They will act as a key advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on all HR matters and serve as the primary liaison to union representatives.
Schedule: This position is full-time, exempt, and onsite 5 days a week (35 hours/week). With the option to work 1 day remote once training has completed. No nights or weekends.
Compensation: Starting annual salary is $125,000 negotiable based off experience. Enjoy benefits that start as of day 1 of employment and our generous paid time off package.
Job Activities

Translate the organization's strategic goals into HR operational plans that foster a culture of excellence and impact across all programs

Act as the primary contact for union representatives, ensuring collaborative labor relations and effective contract negotiations

Serve as a resource to managers and senior leadership for performance management, legal compliance, and progressive discipline processes

Lead, develop and implement effective HR policies and procedures

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives to support workforce development and retention strategies, including staff surveys, recognition programs, and engagement events

Establish effective conflict resolution processes, open lines of communication, and clear chains of command to improve relationships throughout the agency

Lead in supervising, mentoring, and training HR team members to achieve departmental and organizational goals

Implement and manage a comprehensive benefits and compensation program, ensuring equity and compliance with organizational objectives

Oversee the organization's Safety Committee and ensure compliance with PFMLA, ADA, unemployment, Worker's Compensation, and health and safety regulations

Represent the HR department as needed in meetings of the Board of Directors

Monitor program budgets and spending
Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field with at least 5 years of progressively responsible HR supervisory and/or management experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 7 years of progressively responsible HR supervisory and/or management experience

SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification

Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including labor relations

Experience in a unionized environment, including collective bargaining

Experience working in a 501c3 organization preferred

Expertise in HR analytics and leveraging data to drive strategic decisions

Strong analytical, managerial, communication, and leadership skills

Proven supervisory and project management skills

The ability to manage multiple high priority objectives/projects

Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels, including staff, board members and external partners

Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to work effectively independently or as a team

Demonstrates a willingness to take on new tasks with a general attitude that no task is too small, impossible, or cannot be improved

Expertise in the following platforms: Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Pro, Zoom and other web-based applications
